The best sessions don’t happen in picture-perfect places — they happen where people feel comfortable. These are the locations I return to again and again because they’ve got beautiful light, a bit of character, and enough space to just be yourselves. Here are four of my favourite spots to shoot around Brisbane and the Gold Coast:

Chardon Bridge Park — Cedar Creek

A quiet, tucked-away spot just south of Brisbane with a big open field on one end and a fallen log hidden in the trees that's perfect for sitting or climbing. It catches golden light beautifully in the afternoon, and there's plenty of space for kids to explore. It feels private, calm, and a little bit magical when the light hits just right.

PIzzey park - miami

A versatile location with pine tree forests and open areas that photograph beautifully year-round. It's ideal for families — kids can run, climb, or just hang out, and we get a nice mix of shaded and sunny spots throughout the session. An added bonus is being able to bring your furbabies as it's dog friendly!

Currumbin Rock — Currumbin

A beach location with serious glow potential. Yes, it’s popular — but for good reason. The rock formations, soft sand, and golden light at the end of the day make this spot shine. Perfect for couples or families who want beachy, natural photos with a little drama from the backdrop.

Long Tan Park — Currumbin Valley

Tucked into the valley and surrounded by tall, leafy trees, this park is calm, open, and always gives off a peaceful vibe. There’s a shallow creek running through it, plenty of space to explore, and soft, even light all through the afternoon. It’s perfect for young families and slower-paced sessions — especially if the kids are the kind who like to kick off their shoes and get in the water.
